Retalls:

BLOGS a GLOBAL CONVERSATION A Master’s Thesis on the Social Phenomenon of Blogs By James Torio

BLOGS a GLOBAL CONVERSATION A Master’s Thesis on the Social Phenomenon of Blogs By James Torio

Retalls:

  • "A number of people have used Blogs to launch into careers and other people have been fired from their jobs because of what they wrote in their Blogs. The one thing they all have in common is that they are part of an intricately interconnected cyber world—the Blogosphere, and to varying degrees they can participate in the global conversation."
  • "Only 38% of all Internet users know what a Blog is. The rest are not sure what the term “Blog” means. The study goes on to say that Blog creators are more likely to be:
    • Men: 57% are male
    • Young: 48% are under 30
    • Broadband users: 70% have broadband at home
    • Internet veterans: 82% have been online six years or more
    • Relatively well off financially 42% live in households earning over $50,000
    • Well educated: 39% have college or graduate degrees As for Blog readers the study states, “An even more dramatic story"
  • "These factors: ease of use, features automated by the software and the low cost of starting and maintaining a Blog; enable people who can write well, or may be experts in a specific field to focus on writing, with the hopes of building up readership."
  • "Creating a financially successful Blog is not as easy as setting up the Blog. With 12,000 new Blogs a day being created1, there is a lot of competitionto get potential readers attention.
  • Formes de fer doblers als blogs:
    • Publicitat
    • Google AdSense
    • BlogAds
    • AdBrite
    • Fast Click
    • Burst Media
    • Affiliate Programs: Amazon,
    • Donacions
    • Venent merchandising
  • Motius pels quals es parla:
  • Sobreviure a la feina
  • Establir aliances
  • "Mavens are people who are the most expert of the experts. They are savvy in the marketplace; they possess a wealth of information and willingly share it. Not only does Gladwell describe them as the kind of people who read Consumer Reports magazine, but they are the types of people who write in to correct the editors. And according to Gladwell, Mavens read more publications than the average person, which may be a reason why they have so much informationto share".
  • TROGGING: Trust + Blogging
  • What is the Blog about? A general “about” statement is fine.
    • 29 Blogs are about technology, software, hardware, programming, gizmos, web design, Blogs, and tech news.
    • 38 Blogs are about politics.
    • 77 Blogs are about the daily life of Blogger or their interests. E.g. my Blog is about culture, music, traveling, politics and web design, and whatever else interests me.
    • 23 Other Blogs have a broad range of topics: knitting, culture, music/art, fiction, religion, shopping, sports, law, food, a corporation, and science.
  • Blogs allow companies to become more transparent. Bloggers can also build brand equity and create a personality for the company.

The corporate weblog manifesto by Robert Scoble

"20
Be the authority on your product/company.
You should know more about your product than anyone else alive, if you're writing a weblog about it. If there's someone alive who knows more, you damn well better have links to them (and you should send some goodies to them to thank them for being such great advocates.)"

The Voice of the blog

M'acab de llegir aquest treball:

THE VOICE OF THE BLOG: THE ATTITUDES AND EXPERIENCES OF SMALL BUSINESS BLOGGERS USING BLOGS AS A MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS TOOL by Jeffrey Hill A DISSERTATION Submitted to The University of Liverpool in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION 2005.

Retalls:

"Building a Reputation Blogs can be used to demonstrate expertise in a particular business area. Gardner (2005, p. 15) cites the example of a law firm which has created a blog specialising in Brain Injury Law. Top executives such as Jonathan Schwartz, President and COO of Sun Microsystems, and Alan Meckler, CEO of Jupitermedia, have used their blogs to establish a position as 'thought leaders' in their particular domain. While small business owners might have less lofty ambitions, blogs do provide a means to make a name for oneself. As Biz Stone (2004) points out:

Blogging is especially useful for small-business owners, consultants, freelancers, and anyone who will benefit most from being known as an innovator in his or her particular field of expertise (Stone, 2004, p. 163).
Hewitt (2005, p. 131) employs the ter
m 'earned credibility' and sees this, along with the authentic voice, as 'the crucial difference between websites and blogs'. Crumlish (2004) takes a similar view:
…business weblogs can help companies manage an online profile and generate the sort of reputation or aura of goodwill that enables strangers to trust each other and make commitments or transactions online (Crumlish, 2004, p. 181).
"

"Blogging as a means of demonstrating one's personal expertise was another area seen as particularly important by self-employed bloggers. Jim referred to his blog as a 'living CV' while Ben, a professional blogger, used the word 'portfolio', saying that his blog was 'an example of my writing I can show potential clients'. Tom, a lawyer, started a blog when he left his law firm to start up his own business:
I thought the blog would be at the same time a way to get the word out about what I was doing, to cover some issues and to, in an informational way, market my expertise, my practice and my business."

Ordenant

Gestionar la informació no és fàcil. Tantes fonts, tants temes que m'interessen,...

Ara he apostat per Bloglines perquè:

  • Ho tenc via web
  • Puc crear carpetes i anar ordenant

Inconvenients:
  • Només pots registrar feeds, no webs.
